Rookwoods is a house dating from the 16th century or earlier, with later additions and alterations. It has an L-shaped plan and three roof levels, all covered with red plain tiles, one level being gambrel-shaped. The left-hand addition is constructed of flint and red brick. The house is two storeys high, with a timber-framed and plastered facade. It has a four-window front, featuring plain casement windows and a plain wooden door. A flat-headed dormer window is visible in the gambrel roof. Four square red brick chimney stacks are present. Timber framing is exposed internally.
