Description

Scriveners Cottage is an early 19th-century house located on the west side of North Street in Great Dunmow. This two-storey building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a gabled peg tile roof. It features red brick stacks on the gable ends, with one stack positioned forward and another set back from the ridge line. The front of the cottage has a pair of double-hung sash windows on each floor, which include margin glazing bars and moulded surrounds. There are also 20th-century pargetting panels and a central circular name plaque. The cottage is included in the listing primarily for its group value.
