Description

This milepost, located on the north verge of Harwich Road, dates from the early 19th century and is made of cast iron, covering an 18th-century milestone. It features a triangular base that tapers to a flat top with a curved head. The head of the milepost indicates the distance to Wix, stating "Wix to London 64." The left side panel shows the distance to Harwich as 8 miles, while the right side panel indicates Colchester is 13 miles away. This milepost is part of a series of similar markers in the area.
