Description
Carbonells is a house with a rear wing dating from the 14th or 15th century and a front range from the 15th century or earlier. The building features timber framing with an 18th-century red brick facing and has red plain tiled roofs, hipped to the left with a gablet. The single-storey rear range includes a red brick chimney stack, while the two-storey front range has a large offset rear chimney stack incorporated into the aisle on the outshot and an external chimney stack on the right. The left gable of the rear range has a parapet verge, three small paned windows, two doors, and two tie plates. The front range displays a dentilled eaves cornice and has a mix of tripartite small paned vertically sliding sash windows on the first floor and ground floor, with French windows on the right and a 19th-century door with a top light on the far right. Inside, there is a large chimney stack in the rear range, an inserted ceiling, and part of a heavy chamfered arched brace is visible, possibly arched to the collar. The front range features heavy bridging and ceiling joists, with widely exposed wall studs. A semi-circular doorhead is not in situ.
