Description

This milestone, dating from the 19th century, is located on the eastern verge approximately 280 metres southeast of Dial Corner in Great Bentley. It has a square plan with tapering sides and a hipped top. The left face indicates a distance of 7 miles to Clacton on Sea, while the right face shows 9 miles to Colchester. The front face is marked with "Parish of Great Bentley." This milestone is part of a series of similar markers in the area.
