Milestone. C18. Stone, square plan tapering to domed head, chamfered angles. Road face reads London 35, Southend 8 miles. One of a series from London to Southend q.v. 3/4, /33 and 2/67 shown on the Chapman and Andre map of 1777. The series covered the route via Romford, Brentwood, Shenfield, Hutton, Billericay, Wickford to Rayleigh and on to Southend.
