Description
Great Marsh Farmhouse is a house with origins dating back to the 15th or 16th century, with later alterations, including changes from the 18th century. It is timber framed and plastered, topped with a hipped red plain tiled roof that includes a crosswing on the right side. The house features off-centre red brick chimney stacks on both the left and right sides. It has two storeys and a three-window range of vertically sliding sashes with glazing bars, while the ground floor windows have glazed margins. There is a modern gabled porch on the right side, which contains the original six-panelled door. To the left, there is a lean-to extension at the rear. Inside, notable features include an inglenook fireplace with a moulded mantel beam, vertically boarded and panelled doors with ironmongery, chamfered bridging joists, and a crosswing with three bays that has arched braces to the tie beams. The left range has a large cambered tie beam that was originally arched braced.
