Description

Marsh Farm House is a house dating back to the 16th century, and possibly with origins even earlier, with later alterations including 20th-century additions. It is timber-framed and rendered with a red plain tiled roof. A central chimney stack is situated on the right-hand range. The house comprises two distinct builds; a lower range on the left and a gabled crosswing to the right. It has two storeys, with a 2 window range on the front and no first-floor windows on the crosswing. A 3 window range is visible on the right return. The right-hand range features interior details including a restored back-to-back inglenook fireplace, stop-chamfered bridging and ceiling joists, and a simple 2-armed crown post roof. The left-hand range retains large stop-chamfered bridging and ceiling joists, and jowled storey posts originally featuring arched braces to tie beams. This range also has a side purlin roof. The house was once known as Jewers.
