Description

A pair of cottages, likely dating to the 17th century or earlier, and subject to later alterations and additions. The construction is timber-framed and plastered, with batten decoration to the first floor and painted brick to the ground floor. The roof is covered with red plain tiles, and there are red brick chimney stacks externally, one to the left and a larger one off-centre to the right. Rear extensions are present. The cottages are two storeys high with a three-window front featuring small-paned casement windows. There are two vertically boarded doors.

Inside No. 28, several original features are visible, including very heavy wall studs, a 16th-century moulded beam (not in its original location), a large chimney stack now concealed by 20th-century panelling, wide floorboards in the bedrooms, a three-board door and vertically boarded internal doors with original ironmongery.
