Description

The Brown Owl House, formerly The White Lion Public House, is a house dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, likely with earlier origins, and altered and extended in the 19th century. It is a timber-framed and plastered building with red plain tiled roofs. The house comprises two ranges, with the rear range taller than the front. It is one storey in height with attics. Chimney stacks are located on the left and off-centre right of the front elevation, and there are three gabled dormers. Three 20th-century windows are visible on the front. The two bays to the right are enclosed by a red tiled porch, with diamond-leaded windows. A 20th-century gabled porch is located to the left. The interior contains moulded bridging joists with run-out stops and chamfered bridging joists in some rooms.
