Description

This is a corner block of three cottages dating from the early 19th century, with later alterations and additions. The building is constructed of red and gault brick, with a grey slate, hipped roof. The corner is curved to meet the junction of Brook and Stour Streets. There are two brick chimney stacks, one red and one gault with ornamentation.

The building is arranged over two storeys, with a central band detail. The Stour Street facade features gault brick ornamentation on the first floor. Paired eaves brackets are present. A brick plinth runs along the base. To the right of the Stour Street frontage is a two-bay stable extension made of similar materials.

The Brook Street facade has a two-window range of small-paned, vertically sliding sash windows, each with a gauged brick arch. A 20th-century door has been inserted to the left, within an original surround featuring pilasters, a frieze, and a flat canopy. The Stour Street facade incorporates three similar windows on the first floor and two similar ground-floor windows to the left, with an original doorway between. To the far left is an original shop window and door, topped with a fascia. This original shop front features fluted pilasters with capitals and bases, and a two-mullioned window. The stable extension features a loft door and light, a ground-floor vertically sliding sash window, a vertically boarded door, and a carriage door.
