Description

A pair of cottages dating from the early to mid-19th century, forming part of a row on Lympstone Strand. The cottages are constructed of brick in Flemish bond, with a gabled-end slate roof. The plan is double-depth, with a double-fronted shop occupying the left side and a single-room wide house to the right, its entrance positioned between the two. An internal stack is located at the right-hand end. The front elevation has a five-window range. Three sixteen-pane hornless sash windows are present on the first floor, alongside two blocked windows. The ground floor features two canted bay windows, originally shop windows with glazing bars, which flank a panelled door with a rectangular fanlight. A similar door is to the right, and both are grouped under a single moulded cornice. A twelve-pane hornless sash window is located at the extreme right.
