Description
The premises adjoining number 62 Roundabout The Pharmacy is a corner building located on Great Wakering High Street. It dates from the early 18th century, though it may have earlier origins, and has undergone later alterations and additions. The structure is timber framed and plastered, featuring a red plain tiled double range roof that is hipped to the left, facing Chapel Lane. There is a grey slate single-storey lean-to extension on the right. The building has central red brick and end gault brick chimney stacks on the Chapel Lane range and stands two storeys high.
On the High Street side, the first floor has four vertically sliding sash windows, while the ground floor features a 20th-century shop front with a central recessed shop door and a rounded-headed fanlight above, flanked by four-light round-headed shop windows on either side. The Roundabout side has two vertically sliding sash windows and a door on the right return. The Chapel Lane face includes a moulded eaves cornice and a four-window range of vertically sliding sash windows, with a step approach leading to a 20th-century door set within a 19th-century doorcase that has a fluted surround, frieze, and moulded canopy. This building occupies an important corner site.
