Description
Langford Grove is a house that was originally a barn and possibly stables, dating from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries, with 20th-century alterations. The building features a timber frame and is weatherboarded, with a brick plinth and a half-hipped red plain tiled roof. At the rear, there are outshots with an open central midstrey, a 20th-century gabled dormer to the right, and a red brick chimney stack. To the right, there is an attached building faced with red brick, which has a hipped red plain tiled roof and a central red brick chimney stack. A 20th-century lean-to porch is located to the left. The house is two storeys high, with small paned windows on the ground and first floors to the right of the midstrey bay. The first floor of the brick building features three inserted 17th-century two-light leaded mullion windows with original ironmongery, including swan head catches. The roof structure includes queen strut side purlins, arched braces to tie beams, and through bracing to the walls of the left range, with a similar roof structure in the right range. Inside, there are notable 18th-century fireplaces, one made of green marble, along with 18th-century panelling in several rooms, panelled doors, and moulded surrounds, which may have come from the now-demolished Langford Grove.
