Description
This is a coach house, likely built around 1782 by John Johnson. It is constructed of gault brick with grey slate roofs, featuring pyramidal two-storey wings on the right and left, and a central two-storey and attic range with a gable. The design is symmetrical, with linking bays leading to a forward-projecting central gabled bay. Moulded and dentilled parapets are present on the right and left wings. The front features three recessed arches; the central arch has a bearded head carved into its keystone, with a band running over it. The upper portion of the front has been plastered, and there is a lean-to extension with double doors. There are varying configurations of 20th-century windows, with a 1:1:1:1:1 arrangement on the ground, first, and second floors respectively. 20th-century doors are in the linking bays. The rear and return walls have panel pargetted plaster, and a small lean-to extension with a vertically boarded door is present on the left return. The rear elevation has central and side bays that project forward, with a window arrangement of 1:1:2:1:1 of small-paned casements. The first floor has central two- or three-light vertically sliding sash windows, all with segmental arches. A circular window with glazing bars is set into the gable. A central six-panelled door is accompanied by a leaded semi-circular light above it.
