Description

The Garden Temple at Langford Park Grove is a garden temple built around 1782 by John Johnson. It is part of a collection of garden buildings, lakes, and waterfalls at Langford Grove. This structure is an open-sided rectangular building with three bays, constructed from high-quality red brick. It features triangular buttresses at the rear and panelled ends made of Suffolk gault brick, set on stone steps. The side facing the lake has two stone Tuscan columns and end piers. The interior, which likely originally included seating, is finished in Roman cement and contains three round-headed niches and two pilasters. The roof is missing and was probably pedimented, and the floor is made of stone.
