Description
Little Glassenbury is a house that originally dates from the 17th century, with later 18th-century cladding. It is timber-framed and sits on a red brick plinth, featuring tile hanging, with a ground floor made of red and blue brick on the center and left sides. The roof is plain tiled, half-hipped to the right, and has deep overhanging eaves on the half-hip. The building has two storeys, with a tall brick ridge stack located to the right of center and an end stack on the left. The windows are arranged irregularly, with three on the first floor and five on the ground floor, all featuring 18th-century wood-framed lattice casements. The central entrance has double boarded doors topped by an 18th-century flat hood.
To the left, there is a long, stepped 20th-century extension that is single storey at the front and two storeys at the back, connecting to a converted barn. On the right side, a long catslide roof extends, with a half-hipped gable end projecting above to the left. Inside the house, there is heavy framing, including heavily jowled posts and a very wide stack, with a side purlin roof.
The barn to the left, which dates from the 17th century with an 18th-century addition, is also timber-framed and features red brick and tile cladding, with some exposed framing on the south side. The interior consists of five bays, with jowled posts supporting curved braces on the walls, and the roof is enclosed.
