Description

Lock View is a late 18th-century house that has been converted into a terrace of cottages. The building features a timber frame with sections that are rendered and weatherboarded, topped by a gabled roof made of plain tiles, with some areas covered in slate. The structure is two storeys high and includes a rear lean-to and a two-storey flat-roofed extension at the back of No. 4.

The exterior of No. 4 has slate on the front roof slope and white weatherboarding. On the first floor, there is a small-paned, two-light casement window, while the ground floor features a fixed window with nine panes, flanked by two small-paned sidelights, and a slate lean-to bay window with a slate roof. No. 5, also with white weatherboarding, has a 16-pane sash window on the first floor with a moulded surround, and the ground floor has a boarded door with a hood and a modern six-pane metal window.

No. 6 is partly weatherboarded and features a two-light casement window with cross-pattern glazing bars on the first floor, above a 19th-century three-light transomed casement and a boarded door. No. 7 is rendered and has a 16-pane sash window with a moulded surround over a horizontal-sliding casement window with cross-pattern glazing bars and a modern door. The west side of the building is finished in black weatherboarding, while the east side has modern windows.

The rear elevation of Nos. 5 to 7 includes three lean-to dormers, each with two lights. There is a large chimney stack between Nos. 4 and 5 and a smaller stack at the junction of Nos. 6 and 7. Inside, No. 6 features tight winder stairs.
