Description
Earlier 19th century. Single storey, irregualar 15-bay, rectangular-plan, terrace of 5 improved cottages (now 3). Harled whinstone and slate rubble. Generally regular fenestration. Grey slates, lead flashing, coped stacks with clay cans.
NO 8: 2 cottages abacking merging into one. SE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 3-bay, boarded door to centre. NW (REAR) ELEVATION: 3-bay, boarded door to centre. SW (SIDE) ELEVATION: blind gable end. 4-pane timber sash and case windows, gable stack to mutual gable. M-gable roof. INTERIOR: public bar, modern timber fittings.
NO 100: SE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION; 4-bay, door to centre, small window to left, paired later windows to right. NW (REAR) ELEVATION: abutting no 7. Fixed small-pane and hopper windows, boarded door. Wallhead, gables and roof rebuilt, no stacks. INTERIOR: not seen 2001.
NO 6: SE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 8-bay, formerly 2 cottages, irregular fenestration, modern doors to bays 3 and 7. NW (REAR) ELEVATION: 2 advanced bays with piended roof to left, lean-to addition across rear of fomer cottage to centre, abutting Drill Hall to right across 2nd original cottage (see separate listing). NE (SIDE) ELEVATION: harled gable end. Modern plate glass windows, modern rooflights, stacks to NE gable and former mutual gable at centre. INTERIOR: not seen 2001.
