Description
31 Market Hill is an early 19th-century house located in Maldon. It features painted Flemish-bond brickwork, a rendered flank, and a low-pitched concrete pantiled roof behind a plain parapet, with a large square central ridgeline stack. The building is two storeys high and has a two-window range. On the first floor, there is one 12-pane sash window and one 16-pane sash window, both with segmental-arched brick heads. The ground floor includes a doorcase with a flat cornice or hood supported by fluted pilasters, and reveals with two moulded panels over one flush panel. There is a former shop window with a cornice and fascia on thin pilasters, featuring a three-light window with a central horizontal glazing bar. The pilasters continue to the ground, enclosing a brick panel beneath the window. There is a 20th-century rear extension with a hipped machine-made plain tile roof. The interior has not been inspected.
