Description
Witherley House is an early 19th-century house built of Flemish bond brick. It features a moulded rendered cornice supported by shaped and fluted corbels, along with a parapet. The slate roof has gable parapets and brick end stacks, which are truncated on the right side. The building is arranged in a U-shape, with two-storey wings at the rear, and stands three storeys tall with a symmetrical front and a three-window range.
The entrance includes a fielded six-panelled door with a decorative fanlight and panelled reveals, framed by a rendered doorcase supported by Tuscan columns, adorned with paterae and an open pediment. The ground and first floors have late 20th-century windows, while the second floor features segmental-arched two-light casements with glazing bars. The first and third bays display rendered or painted stone moulded segmental arches with block supports, decorated keyblocks, and moulded cornices. The narrower central windows include a first-floor window with a fluted lintel, paterae, consoles, and cornice, and a second-floor casement with an overlight that has a segmental arch of a slightly different design. The interior has not been inspected.
