GV II

House. Early C17, timber framed and plastered, 2 storey farmhouse with hipped clay peg tile roof. Of 3 bays with central contemporary stack. Former 'baffle entry' plan type. Original stair tower at rear with hipped peg tile roof and C20 lean-to rear extension at N wnd, Front has central, painted timber, pedimented doorcase on heavy console brackets and reeded architrave. Windows are modern casements with glazing bars, one on each floor, either side of doorcase. First floor are 12 light and ground floor 3 light with nominally pedimented heads. Painted timber cornice with exaggerated cyma profile and central early C17 red brick stack of 4 square shafts. Bridging joists are stop-chamfered, storey posts unjowled and halved and blade scarf joints in plates. Stair tower has remains of contemporary dog-leg stairs with turned balusters, square newels with ball finials and moulded handrail. (RCHM 5).
