Description
Bonningtons Farmhouse is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, dating from the late 16th century and 17th century. It is timber framed and plastered, standing two storeys high with a later crosswing added at the east end. The roofs are gabled and covered with peg tiles, featuring an off-centre ridge line stack. The front of the house has 20th-century pargetting, a 19th-century flat hooded porch supported by double scroll brackets, and 19th-century casement windows. At the rear, there are two wide canted bay windows. To the west, there is an 18th-century outhouse with a hipped peg tile roof and part black boarding, which is connected to the end of the house by a covered link. Inside, the timber framing is exposed, with heavy jowled posts creating a three-bay 'baffle entry' plan structure and later 17th-century extensions. There is an inglenook fireplace that features a cambered and arched oak lintel with flat chamfers on one side, which is likely a reused element.
