Description

The granary located to the north of Abbess Roding Hall is a building from the 16th century or earlier. It is timber framed and consists of three bays, featuring a later addition of red brick in Flemish bond style, which forms a gabled outhouse at the eastern end. The roof is half hipped and covered with peg tiles. The timber frame is filled with brick nogging arranged in square panels. The eastern wall displays English bond brickwork, which includes a header course made of grey bricks. Inside, there are halved and bridled scarf joints and large braces supporting one of the tie beams.
