Description
Sparrows is a house dating from the 14th century or earlier, with a later extension towards the road. It is timber framed and plastered, consisting of one storey and attics, with a lean-to on the southeast corner. The roof is thatched and gabled at both ends, featuring two ridge lines and red brick stacks. On the west side, there is one gabled dormer, while the east side has two eyebrow dormers and one gabled dormer. A modern pantiled lean-to porch is located on the west, and there is a modern leaded light casement window, one of which is bowed, on the south gable. The interior reveals remains of an open hall with wide stud spacings, compression braces, and a splayed scarf joint with vertical butts.
