Description
This is a barn located to the northeast of Rookwood Hall and southeast of another item. It dates from the 15th century and features an eight-bay timber frame that is weatherboarded and partially rendered. The barn has a half-hipped roof with gablets at each end, covered with peg tiles, and includes two contemporary midstreys on the west side. The roof structure is a hybrid cross quadrant crown post design with decorative chamfers that supports a collar purlin. Additionally, there are framed side purlins, diminished rafters, and curved wind braces. The scarf joints are halved and double bridled, indicating an advanced design of great quality. The barn is situated on a moated site.
