Description

Audrey Ruth, Worleys and Godfrey is a building located on Ongar High Street, originally constructed as dwellings in the 17th century or earlier, with later additions and alterations. The structure features a timber frame, with sections covered in weatherboarding and rough render, and some original rusticated pargetting still visible. It has a red plain tiled roof, with a gabled crosswing on the left side. The building is two storeys high and has a five-window range consisting of 17th-century iron casements with three leaded lights. There are five shopfronts, four of which date from the 19th century. The three shopfronts on the left have small panes and half-glazed doors. Number 203 features a 19th-century bay with decorative mouldings on the fascia and segmental-headed windows with mouldings on the mullions. Number 205 has a three-light window, each light divided by two mullions, with segmental heads and moulded infill, alongside a half-glazed door with a moulded surround, a canopy, and brackets.
