Description
Hursley Post Office is a building that originally dates back to the 16th century, with a refronting and extension in the 18th century, and a shop added in the 19th century. It features a timber-frame structure that is encased in brick, with the upper wall of the older part covered in tile hanging and a plain tile roof. The building has three bays of timber framing with an additional bay on the left side. There is a plinth, and the 18th-century planked door is set in a solid segmental-headed frame. Each side of the door has 18th-century leaded wrought iron three-light casements in segmental openings. The left bay has a 19th-century shop front with a bow window, a top-lit door to the left, and a cornice with a blind box above. Above this, there are three 19th-century leaded wrought iron casements and fishscale tiles. The left addition features an 18th-century planked door in a solid segmental-headed frame to the right, with 18th-century three-light leaded wrought iron casements on each floor. The roof is continuous, with a large ridge stack between the left bays of the older building and a freestanding stack at the right end.
