Description
The Forge is a working forge located in Hursley, dating from the 17th century with an 18th-century addition. The building features a timber-frame structure that is encased in brick, topped with an old plain tile roof. It consists of one bay of timber-frame construction that is two storeys high, with two single-storey 18th-century bays added to the right.
The roadside façade includes a boarded 18th-century doorway with a segmental head on the left, above which is an early 19th-century two-light lozenge pane casement window. There are also two 18th-century two-light segmental head casement windows with vertical glazing bars set in 18th-century openings. The 18th-century end of the building has a planked door and a three-light leaded casement window, along with a loft door in the gable. A small stack is situated between the two 18th-century bays. Inside the 18th-century bays, there are two working forges with flues leading to the stack.
