Description
Beams End Cottage, now divided into three dwellings and a shop, was originally built in the 17th century and subsequently altered. The building is timber-framed with colourwashed render and roughcast facing, and some brickwork. The roof is largely old tile, with two brick stacks at the rear. The original plan comprised three units.
The exterior is two storeys high, with a three-window front. To the left of centre are paired entrances leading to numbers 65 and 67, featuring architraves to 20th-century plank doors, with 8/8 sash windows on either side. The right-hand end entrance, leading to number 69, has a 19th-century six-panel door with a stop-chamfered surround, and a canted bay window with a 10/10 sash window featuring thick glazing bars, flanked by smaller-paned windows, all under a hipped pentice. The first floor has a central window with a two-light small-paned casement, and a small window to the left with a two-light casement, both incorporating a gablet above. The first floor to the right has a similar gablet, some exposed timber-framing, and battens ready for roughcast; there is no window frame, although a small-paned casement was formerly present.
The left return side wall shows a brick wall with a tiled offset, a wall stud to the left, and an exposed roof truss. There are gabled rear wings. The interior was not inspected.
