Description
Ongar House is a house and forward outbuilding, now used as an office, dating from the 18th century and 19th century, with a third floor added in 1952. It is constructed of gault brick and features a hipped plain red tiled roof. The building has a moulded cornice at the eaves and a symmetrical front with a recessed central bay on the first and second floors. There is a five-window range of small paned vertical sliding sashes, each topped with gauged brick arches. A band runs between the ground and first floors. The central window on the first floor has a heavy moulded architrave, a flat canopy, and foliated brackets. A 20th-century glazed enclosed porch with a flathead design is approached by steps. The door features a moulded canopy along with a plain frieze and pilasters. Additionally, there is a central cast iron gate with ornate arrowhead finials.
