Description

TL 51 SW MATCHING CARTER'S GREEN 3/88 Barn approx. 9 metres NW of Hogg's Farmhouse GV II

Barn, c.1700. Timber framed, weatherboarded, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 4 bays aligned approximately NW-SE, entrance doors to SW, blind midstrey or chaff bay to NE. Unjowled posts, primary straight bracing, straight tiebeams of imported (probably Baltic) softwood, clasped purlin roof. An interesting combination of local hardwood for posts and studs, some re-used hardwood, imported timber for the longest members.
