Description

This barn, located 40 metres north of Piggotts Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century. It is timber framed and has been weatherboarded on the back, topped with a gabled peg tile roof. The barn consists of five bays and features a central gabled midstrey on the south side, flanked by later lean-tos that have pantile roofs. The structure includes unjowled posts, straight bracing, and halved and bladed scarf joints in the top plates. Arched braces connect to the tie beams, and queen posts support the collars and side purlins. Additional 'V' struts provide support for further side purlins at a higher level.
