Description
The Blue Boar Inn is a public house dating from the early 19th century. It features painted brick in Flemish bond, with the front wall tuck-pointed and adorned with vermiculated rustication on the quoins, cornice, and blocking course. The building has a double-span mansard slate roof with coped gable ends and rendered gable end stacks.
The plan is a double-depth central entrance layout, with later low extensions added at the rear. The exterior is two storeys tall with an attic and presents a symmetrical five-bay east front. It has large 19th-century 12-pane sash windows without horns, each with cills. The central doorway is highlighted by a glazed and panelled door, a rectangular overlight, and a Roman Doric portico. There are three flat-roof dormers in the mansard roof, each featuring 2-light casements with glazing bars. The rear west side has two similar sashes on the first floor, a small two-storey wing to the right of centre, and lower extensions to both the left and right. The interior has not been inspected.
