Description

The Maltster's Arms is a public house, originally two 18th-century houses that have been combined. It features a timber frame and is weatherboarded, with a roof made of handmade red clay plain tiles at the front and various materials at the rear. The building is aligned approximately northeast to southwest and faces southeast.

One of the houses has a gambrel roof with an axial chimney stack at the northeast end and a two-storey lean-to extension at the rear, where both roof pitches are covered with dark red clay Roman tiles. There is also a single-storey flat-roofed extension to the rear, which is from the 20th century. The other house has a pitched roof to the northeast and a single-storey lean-to extension at the rear, with both rear pitches covered in interlocking concrete tiles. There is a parallel bakehouse with a chimney stack at the southwest end and an extension with a hipped roof beyond, both covered with red clay Roman tiles. Additionally, there is a wagon way with a room above to the northeast.

The building is two storeys high and has three glazed doors, one of which is located in a 19th-century porch featuring two Tuscan columns with square bases and a shallow pediment. There are four diamond leaded casement windows from the 20th century, along with four more on the first floor. The interior of the ground floor has been significantly altered.
