Description

The Scheregate Hotel is an 18th-century timber-framed and plastered house located on Stanwell Street. It has two storeys, attics, and cellars, and features tiled roofs. The building has been restored and altered, with the front stripped to expose the timber-framing, which has been raised to a parapet topped with a dentilled cornice. The facade includes a three-window range of lights with pointed heads set within square heads, each adorned with hood moulds. The Scheregate Hotel is part of a group that includes Nos 4 to 16 (even) Abbeygate Street and Nos 61 and 63 (consecutive) Stanwell Street.
