Description
The Lobster Smack Public House is a public house located on Haven Road in Canvey Island. It likely originated in the 17th century but has been mainly modified in the 18th and 19th centuries, with some additions and alterations made in the 20th century. The building is timber framed and weatherboarded, with some painted brick on the ground floor, and features a red plain tiled roof. It is a long structure with two storeys and has five windows that are vari-light casements with glazing bars, including a three-light bay window on the ground floor. There are lean-to porches on the central and right sides, and three vertically boarded doors. This public house is one of the few remaining buildings from this period on the island.
