Description
Ye Olde Swan is a public house located on Newport Road in Woughton on the Green. It dates back to the 17th century and has been altered and extended over time. The building features a timber frame with colourwashed brick infilling, along with red brick additions on parts of the ground floor. It has tiled roofs and brick chimneys, and is L-shaped with two storeys.
The north front includes a projecting gabled wing on the right side, which has one bay of wood casements, with a two-light window above a three-light window. The return wall features a three-light casement on the ground floor, while the north wall of the main block has irregular windows, including a small leaded casement on the first floor and a modern window on the ground floor. There is a door located in a lean-to porch at the angle of the building. The south front is now obscured by four gabled extensions, with the right-hand extension at a lower level, possibly dating from the 18th century.
Inside, the pub retains old beams, some of which are chamfered, and features a fitted 18th-century corner cupboard with an arched head and shaped shelves.
