TL60SW MOUNTNESSING ROAD 723-1/2/41 (West side) 05/06/78 The Barn at Belladale

Omitted from OS map, but shown on all earlier editions. Barn, now house. Early C18, converted to house 1981. Timber-framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 3 bays aligned NW-SE, with midstrey to SW, forming a T-plan. 2 storeys. All windows are C20 casements or fixed lights. C20 door in NW side of midstrey. Metal flue in SW pitch of main roof. INTERIOR: unjowled posts, girts tenoned and double-pegged, primary straight bracing, clasped purlin roof. The main frame is of high quality oak, fully jointed and pegged; studs tenoned but not pegged. On the first floor stairs rise over each internal tie-beam, but the collars are severed for framed doorways. Introduced old hardwood timbers support the floor; similar introduced newel post.
