Description
Park Farmhouse is a house with origins dating back to the late 17th century, which was extended in the 18th and 20th centuries. It is timber-framed, with roughcast rendering and a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The building has a three-bay range that runs northeast to southwest, featuring an axial stack located between the southwest and middle bay. An 18th-century extension is situated to the northwest of the northeast bay, which includes a central stack, creating an L-shaped plan with the main entrance on the northeast side. There is also a right and rear extension added in 1985, along with a conservatory positioned between the rear wings.
The house is two storeys tall and has a four-window range of 20th-century casements with segmental heads. The entrance door is off-centre and possibly a later addition, featuring two rows of three panels and a semicircular design of radial panels above, made of heavily studded pine, set within a 20th-century gabled porch. The roof is hipped, and all other windows match those on the front elevation.
Inside, the original range displays unjowled posts and primary straight bracing, originally built as a single storey with attics but raised to two full storeys in the 18th century. The interior features chamfered axial beams with lamb's tongue stops and plain joists of vertical section. There are two wide wood-burning hearths with 0.33-meter jambs; the rear hearth has a 20th-century mantel beam. The 18th-century stack showcases high-quality brickwork that is exposed in the entrance hall, accompanied by a 20th-century grate to the right.
