Description

Northampton House is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It features a timber frame that is plastered and a roof covered with handmade red clay tiles. The building is in an L-plan shape, with wings extending to the north and east, and it faces south. There is a 17th-century central stack in the front range and an 18th-century stack at the end of the rear range, which has a 19th-century extension beyond it.

At the rear, there is a single-storey lean-to extension from the 18th century and another lean-to from the 19th century on the right side of the rear end. The 19th-century porch is made of red and blue bricks, has a gabled roof covered in fishscale slates, and features a side entrance on the left return wall of the front range. The main range has two storeys with attics, while the rear range also has two storeys.

The front facade has a two-window range of late 19th-century sashes with four lights, along with two 19th-century horizontally sliding sashes of four lights in swept dormers. The central plain door is set within a trellised porch that has fretted bargeboards. The roofs are hipped. Additionally, there is a late 18th-century three-light window with one wrought iron casement in the lean-to at the rear angle. Inside, there are axial beams with lamb's tongue stops, while other beams are boxed in, and original boards remain in the attic.
