Description
Lumleys is a house that has been divided into four cottages and is now combined into a single residence. It dates from the 17th century and has undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is timber framed, plastered, and features a slate roof. It has five bays facing west and includes two axial stacks. The structure is two storeys high and has a four-window range of 20th-century casements, along with a 20th-century door flanked by fixed lights and a plain boarded door. Inside, there are chamfered axial beams with lamb's tongue stops, four large wood-burning hearths with chamfered mantel beams also featuring lamb's tongue stops, and jowled posts. The original floorboards are present in the left bay. The walls have been raised approximately 1.5 metres. The building was formerly used as almshouses and is listed for its group value.
