Description

Stubbards is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is timber framed and plastered, with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The main range has three bays and faces southeast, while there is a two-bay crosswing to the left. The house features two rear stacks and two single-storey extensions at the back. It stands two storeys high and has a four-window range of 20th-century casements. The front door is a plain boarded design from the 20th century, framed by a simple early 19th-century doorcase with a shallow hood supported by scrolled brackets. There is an inscription in plaster below the eaves at the center of the elevation that reads: ALS 1686 WSC RCHM 32.
