Description
Vine Cottage is a house that has been converted into two cottages and a shop, dating from the 18th to early 19th century. It is timber framed, plastered, and has a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The building has five bays, featuring one axial stack and a 19th-century external stack at the right end. There is a two-storey extension at the rear and a single-storey extension on the right side.
The structure stands two storeys high. At the left end, there is a disused 19th-century shopfront that projects from the main elevation, complete with three barred external shutters, a halved door, and a shallow slated hood supported by scrolled brackets. On the ground floor, there are two early 19th-century tripartite sash windows with 4-8-4 lights and two early 19th-century sashes with 12 lights. The first floor features three early 19th-century sashes with 12 lights and one mid-19th-century sash with 4 lights. Additionally, there is a six-panel door in a moulded doorcase, also with a shallow hood on scrolled brackets, dating from the early 19th century, alongside a 20th-century door. The building is listed for its group value.
