Description

Goldsticks Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed with a timber frame, with plastering and some weatherboarding, and has a roof of handmade red clay tiles. The house consists of a two-bay main range facing southwest, featuring a large external stack at the right end and a two-bay crosswing extending to the rear on the left. A 19th-century external stack is located to the left, and a 19th-century single-storey extension is at the rear of the crosswing. An 18th-century extension with a gambrel roof is at the rear of the main range, with an external stack on the left end. A 20th-century lean-to extension sits between this rear extension and the crosswing. The house has one storey with attics. The ground floor has two 20th-century casement windows. The first floor has two 20th-century casement windows and another within a gabled dormer. The main range includes a chamfered transverse beam with lamb's tongue stops. The rear bay of the crosswing displays a chamfered axial beam and plain horizontal section joists; the floor of the front bay has been rebuilt. The roofs are of the clasped purlin type.
