Description

This is a stone milestone from the 18th century located on the south verge, approximately 40 metres west of Pannels Ash Farm. The milestone is triangular in shape with the top half cut away and was originally fitted with a metal post. At the time of the survey, vegetation obscured the inscription, which reads: "To London. To Sudbury. To Castle Hedingham." This milestone is one of a set of four similar milestones along the road from Castle Hedingham to Bulmer.
