Description

Parkgate Farmhouse is a house dating from the 15th century or earlier, with later additions and alterations. It is timber framed and rendered with decorative panel pargetting. The roof is covered in red plain tiles, featuring two central gabled dormers. The house is two storeys high and has a 1:2:1 window arrangement of 19th-century sash windows. Upper windows have pentice boards above them, and lower windows have drip hoods. A three-step approach leads to a central four-panel door, framed by mouldings, a flat canopy, and brackets. There are three red brick chimney stacks. The house has a central hall with gabled crosswings to the right and left. A jetty extends from the right crosswing, while the left jetty has been built upon. The hall roof is believed to be original, featuring crown posts and significant sooting; the crosswing roofs are similar. A floor was inserted during the 16th or 17th century.
