Description

TL 63 SE FINCHINGFIELD SPAINS HALL ROAD (east side)

3/84 Cottage block approx. 35 metres north-east 21.12.67 of Spains Hall (Formerly listed as Nos.1 GV II and 2 Spains Hall Farmhouse) Block of cottages, possibly having a former agricultural use. C17. Timber framed, mainly plastered, partly clad with red brick in English bond, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 6 bays facing SW, with 2 axial stacks. One storey with attics. Ground floor, 4 C20 casements and one slatted window. First floor, 4 C19/C20 casements and one C19 sash of 8 lights, all in gabled dormers. Hipped roof. The left end bay is clad with red brick at front, side and rear, suggesting former use as a granary.
