Description
3 and 4 Mill End is a house that has been divided into two cottages and is now combined. It dates from the 17th century and features a timber frame with plastering and a thatched roof. The building has four to five bays facing southwest, with an axial stack located one bay from the right end, which originally formed a lobby entrance, and an external stack at the left end. At the rear, there is a single-storey lean-to extension with a roof made of corrugated asbestos. The structure is one storey with attics.
No. 3, located on the left, has three 20th-century casement windows, three additional casements in slated swept dormers, and a 20th-century glazed door. No. 4, on the right, features one 18th-century two-light window with a wrought iron casement and diamond leaded panes, another two-light window in a slated swept dormer, and a 19th-century plain boarded door. A monogram "RB" in a circle, representing Ruggles-Brise, is painted on the front elevation. The roof is half-hipped at the right end only, and both stacks have grouped diagonal shafts. There is a similar 18th-century two-light window in the right return wall at first floor level.
