Description

Paigles and The Cottage form a pair of early 19th century cottages located on Duck End in Finchingfield. They are timber-framed structures with plastered walls and a thatched roof. The cottages have four bays facing northwest, with a central chimney stack. A single-storey, lean-to extension projects from the rear. The cottages are one storey high with attics. They feature a four-window range of early 19th century casement windows, with wrought iron fittings and rectangular leaded panes; three-light casements are on the ground floor, and two three-light and two two-light casements are within half-dormers on the first floor. Two plain boarded doors are present. The roof is half-hipped at the left end. The cottages are listed for their group value.
